Country star and "American Idol" alum Kellie Pickler buzzed off all her blond hair in support of her best friend, Summer Holt Miller, 36, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in June and started chemotherapy Thursday.
"Cancer does not discriminate," Pickler said on her Facebook page after the unveiling of a video showing the shearing on "Good Morning America" this week. Pickler wants to spread the message that early detection is the key.
Added Miller, "If this compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it."
Pickler wrote on Twitter: "Thinking about being "G.I. Jane" for Halloween. ;)"
